Credit Card Thefts Lead to Arrest of Airmont Resident

On March 9th, 2024, Ramapo PD was called to a residence in the Village of Airmont to investigate the larceny of several credit cards from the homeowner’s unlocked vehicle. The stolen credit cards were then used to make several purchases at numerous businesses within the Village of Airmont and Paramus NJ.

Ramapo PD Detectives conducted investigations into these cases and with assistance from Spring Valley PD, were able to identify a 29-year-old male from Airmont, NY as the suspect. During the investigation, several other instances of theft were discovered (including a stolen vehicle) which were all perpetrated by the same suspect over the course of the last week.

On March 18th, 2024, Ramapo PD was able to locate the suspect and place him under arrest without incident. The 29-year-old was charged by Ramapo PD in connection to 9 incidents in the Village of Airmont. He was also charged for a larceny by Spring Valley PD as well.

In total, he was charged with the following:
Grand Larceny 4th Degree (5 Counts)
Petit Larceny (7 Counts)
Identity Theft 3rd Degree (2 Counts)
Identity Theft 2nd Degree (1 Count)
Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (1 Count).

None of the above offenses are bail qualifying, so the male was released after being issued appearance tickets for a future court date in the Village of Airmont Justice Court.
